One of the things that people do not understand about Obama is that he is the type of person that if you let him stay at your house for the weekend that by the time it was all over the room you let him stay in would be trashed almost beyond repair...
Trump entered the White House with a lot on his plate. Obama left him an absolute mess. Obama used to always complain about how Bush left him with a big mess to clean up and there was some truth to that but Obama left Trump with a much worse situation.
The economy was mired in the worst economic recovery since World War II. The world was on fire.
ISIS had established a caliphate while Obama stood around and called them the JV team.
Iran was emboldened by the disastrous Iran Deal. North Korea’s nuclear program had grown dramatically while Obama stood around and did nothing. Things were a mess on the jobs front.
Race relations were falling apart thanks in part to Obama’s divisiveness. Government was growing at an alarming rate. Religious freedom was under attack. Scandal after scandal was emerging out of the Obama admin. It was an absolute mess.
You can make a solid argument that the EPA was the most out of control agency in Obama’s whole administration. At one point, there were four different scandals going on at the same time. Not only that, Obama’s regulations via the EPA were absolutely crippling the economy and it was clear that climate change radicalism was more important to the administration than a healthy economy.
So far, Trump’s EPA chief Scott Pruitt has been a rockstar when it comes to undoing Obama’s legacy.
On Monday, Pruitt made another fantastic move that Obama isn’t going to like one bit.
From The Daily Caller: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt announced Monday the Obama administration’s fuel economy regulations were not appropriate and would be revised.
Pruitt said EPA and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration would begin crafting new greenhouse gas emission and mileage, or Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE), standards for vehicles built in 2022 through 2025.
“The Obama EPA’s determination was wrong,” Pruitt said in a statement.
“Obama’s EPA cut the midterm evaluation process short with politically charged expediency, made assumptions about the standards that didn’t comport with reality and set the standards too high,” Pruitt said.
From Reuters: The Trump administration on Monday rejected an Obama-era plan to make automobiles more fuel efficient, opening up a long process to weaken current standards and putting California and the federal government on a collision course over vehicle emissions.
The standards called for roughly doubling by 2025 the average fuel efficiency of new vehicles sold in the United States to about 50 miles (80 km) per gallon. Proponents said they could help spur innovation in clean technologies.
California has long been allowed by an EPA waiver to impose stricter standards than Washington does on vehicle emissions of some pollutants. And 12 other states, including New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, follow California’s lead on cleaner cars.
That has set up a battle on vehicle efficiency between California, the most populous U.S. state and a massive car market, and the administration of President Donald Trump.
Pruitt is a big proponent of states’ rights to regulate themselves, but opposes California’s push for greener cars. California’s waiver to impose its own efficiency standards is being re-examined, the EPA said.
It is in “America’s best interest to have a national standard,” Pruitt said in the release.
America’s best interest.
Isn’t it nice to hear that phrase being thrown around for a change?
